Evil inside switch review3/26/2023 ![]() ![]() Each carries a part of the gateway to the titular land of Archvale, a mythical place of great power that holds the secret to restoring peace and balance to the world. Your quest will take you all over the kingdom as you seek out the Undying, a group of nasties cursed with immortality by an evil king. Initially you can only wear two, but you can increase that number as you progress. ![]() Others increase magic damage, add an extra heart to your health pool, or alter your damage output. Another allows your arrows to track targets. The first Badge you find, for example, gives enemies a small chance to drop health on death. These alter small elements of the game mechanics and can be stacked. Blessings are permanent buffs to one of your attributes and are usually found at new Fountains. Rings are equippable items, which you can only wear one of. Rings, badges and blessings are also scattered about the place to give you buffs and advantages. Ore and enemy drops can be turned into new weapons, armour and items in one of the towns, while other materials you gather can be used to upgrade your gear. It could be a chest with a new weapon, a Fountain at which you can heal and refill your health flasks, or maybe just a pile of enemies to kill and resources to gather. You travel a grid-like map, with each square a room, most of which contain something of note. Archvale: A cute but vicious little adventure You visit places like Timberwell and Crabclaw Caverns, and fight cartoony, pixel-art monsters with swords and bows and magic – but the enemies can be relentless, and staying out of the line of fire requires an insane level of reflex and patience. But it doesn’t take long once you start playing to realise that while Archvale is all smiles and rosy cheeks on the outside, on the inside it’s a vicious little bastard that wants you dead.īecause Archvale is essentially a bullet hell game dressed up in the clothes of a top-down adventure. It’s bright and colourful, and highly reminiscent of the early Legend of Zelda games (in that it apes them to a degree that almost goes past homage). Loneliness and darkness invade you.On the outside, Archvale looks like a twee little adventure game. Something does not add up… Your biggest fears come true. To all this, it continues to haunt you not to know the truth, there is nothing clear in this whole story. Almost without realizing it, you live alone. In a very short time your life has taken a 180º turn. I need to talk to her, I need to discover the truth. I need to know the truth… but only she knows. He was a good person… Something is not right. Why did dad do that? He is now in prison. But above all… enjoy a real horror experience. Explore Mark’s house that is constantly changing. The whole argument of Evil Inside happens in a mysterious house … or almost everything. Although only he was knowledgeable about them… or someone else? The objective is to gather the fragments of the Ouija, found around the house, to be able to contact Rose, her mother, and discover the truth. Reveal the visions and fears that torment Mark. The player will embody Mark, a teenager in charge of his little brother, because he has just suffered the loss of his mother and has his father in prison for it. That’s where it all began: a series of paranormal events will torment him while he tries to gather the fragments of the Ouija and thus, find what is really happening. After the death of his mother and the arrest of his father for it, our protagonist Mark tries to contact her through the Ouija, which explodes mysteriously and causes Mark to fade away. Just don’t confuse this for either The Evil Within, or the brilliant sequel, The Evil Within 2.Įvil Inside is a first-person psychological horror game. If you’re sold on the premise though, get over to the Xbox Store, the PlayStation Store, the Nintendo eShop or the Steam page and take home a download. Priced at £10.74, Evil Inside is set nearly exclusively inside an old mysterious home be prepared for an atmosphere which will slowly change as you progress a world in which nothing is ever what it seems. ![]()
