Comanche nation funeral home3/31/2023 ![]() She received several awards, she was the recipient of the 2005 Oklahoma Library Association Scholarship for Graduate Study, “History of the Card Catalog” original entry, Library and Information Science Wiki (LISWiki) and “Understanding e-books” original entry, Wikispaces. She was a member of the American Library Association, Oklahoma Library Association, Community of Oklahoma Instruction Librarians and Lawton Area Reading Council, the American Indian Library Association, Oklahoma Library Association Tribal Library Committee. Kim worked at both Cameron University Library and Comanche Nation College as the founding Librarian, both in Lawton, OK. But her dream was to become a Librarian which she realized after moving to Lawton, OK with the support of her husband Mike. She then went on to work for Continental Airlines as a technical writer. She also worked for Marriott Hotels and was on the Grand Opening Team for the Marriott’s Bay Point Resort, in Panama City Beach, FL in 1987. Kim worked for the Bureau of Land Management in Colorado as a college student in 1974 and had the experience of having her truck fall down a mine shaft, luckily surviving. Kim had a varied career before her earning her MILS credentials and serving as a Academic Librarian at both Cameron University and Comanche Nation College, both in Lawton. Kim was a member of the Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society and also made the Dean’s List several times. She earned her second post graduate degree, a Masters of Secondary Education from Cameron University, Lawton, OK in 2012. Kim earned her Masters of Library and Information Studies from University of Oklahoma, Norman, OK in 2007. She earned her BA from University of Northern Colorado in 1977 after also attending Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, VA for one year. She then went to college at the University of Northern Colorado in Greely, CO where her father was an alumni. Kim graduated from Mitchell High School in Colorado Springs, CO in 1972. They had reunited after dating in junior high school in Taiwan and shared a true lifetime of love. Kim married Mike Smith on Jat Inlet Beach Florida. Kim had also lived in Austin, TX, Panama City, FL, Memphis, TN, Houston, TX, before settling in Lawton and Cache, OK during her working career. Walton Beach, FL, Colorado Springs, CO, Northern Virginia. ![]() She and her family enjoyed living in many locations while she was growing up including Tulsa, OK, Heidelberg, Germany, Sherman TX, Panama City, FL, Taipei, Taiwan, Ft. Kim was born on Januin Washington, DC at Walter Reed Hospital to Owen and Kitty Radcliff. She was preceded in death by her parents, Owen and Kitty Radcliff formerly of Panama City, FL and Sister, Gail Nelson formerly of Austin, TX. ![]() Kim also considered Charlotte Spaulding, Heather Ballou, Bailey Ballou, Bobby Lorah and David Long to be her children. Kim is survived by her husband, Mike Smith of Cache, OK, Sisters Jan Bates of Liberty Hill, TX and LeeAnne Ryan of Peachtree City, GA, Daughters Gynger Smith of Lawton, OK and Ashley Lorah of Chattanooga, OK, Grandchildren Shelby Lorah, Rylee Lorah, Jaxon Lorah, Merrick Ballou, Brodey Ballou, Keagan Faulkner, Lennon Avenall and Knox Avenall, Nephews and Nieces John Nelson and Robin Nelson of Austin, TX, Evan Dalton of Austin, TX, Blake and Kathleen Ryan of Peachtree City, GA. Smith (ne Radcliff) died unexpectedly at her home in Cache, Oklahoma on Jat the age of 62. All are welcome to attend and celebrate the life of Kim M. ![]() The family will greet friends from 6:00 P.M. Monday, Jin the Chapel of Peace Mausoleum at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Pastor Chris Austin, Lighthouse Baptist Church officiating.īurial will be under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home. ![]()
